Integrated Operating Rooms - Consultation and Planning
Here are some pictures of fully integrated operating rooms which I
meanwhile consult on, configure and project manage*.
In some intraoperative OR's, the MRI/CT scanners can be used mid-case
to aquire an up-to-date data set, before proceeding with surgery. This
reduces the overall OR time for the patient and brings down the
number of revision cases. Data collected is processed immediately and
exhanged with other devices, where ad-hoc approach plans can be
created and further processed.
Additional systems often integrated include IGS** (image guided
surgery) components, Audio/Video distribution systems and convenient
access points to all available hospital records and patient data
through easy to control graphical interfaces. Most of the functions
can be controlled through touchscreens or other interfaces in the
surgical field or other places in the OR.
More information about integrated OR systems can be found (for
example :)
here.
* In case you are wondering: Yes, according to
Wiktionary, it is.
** What is IGS? See Info section below.
