Pneumatic Garment Drill

This is a pneumatically actuated garment power drill I helped design and manufacture. The three hollow drills are belt-driven and are used to drill-punch holes into various types of fabric and leather used for car seats and clothes. The three drills can be individually actuated by pneumatic cylinders and there is an option to limit the throw of each individual drill to accommodate different material thicknesses. The maximum vertical travel of the drill(s) is 4". The precision chuck accept drills from 0.1875" to 1" diameter and the speed of the 2.5 hp motor can be adjusted. The focus was on accuracy (concentricity of the shafts in respect to the spindle and bearings, positioning of the drills and minimal axial deflection), robustness and quiet and reliable operation.
